The cast Alnico 5 horseshoe magnet with red coating offers high heat resistance and medium magnetic pull, and comes with a keeper to retain magnetic strength. The magnet provides a maximum of 2 lb. of pull strength to a perpendicular surface (pounds of pull strength does not apply to shear force). The magnet can withstand temperatures up to 975 degrees F. Resistance to demagnetizing is low and resistance to corrosion is high.

Alnico magnets are made by casting or sintering aluminum, nickel, and cobalt with iron and small amounts of other metals to enhance the magnet grade’s specific properties. Magnetism is very stable in Alnico magnets, even in high-temperature technical applications. They can be formed in fairly complex shapes and produce highly magnetic fields in certain configurations. Alnico magnets are easily de-magnetized and re-magnetized. Alnico magnets can be plated with a variety of metals or given a coating that is usually red. They do not corrode.
