Product Detail
Patented Outburst assisted opening with the patent-pending Fire Safe mechanism. When closed, the blade is safely locked by the Fire Safe pin. It cannot be opened until the safety button on the end of the thumb stud is firmly depressed and the thumb stud is nudged outward. Then the blade springs open instantly for use. Yes, this is a design for right-hand opening, but it is the best integration of folder safety and fast access that we have ever seen in a sport and work folder. The standard sport Ignitor models have a polished blade and frame, with green and black G10 scales. It s a contemporary and sophisticated look that exudes custom-knife quality.
The Ignitor folding knife from Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT) raises the bar for all value-priced folders. It uses premium blade steel, layered G10 scales, and patented features including assisted opening, a unique knife safety system, and our special serrations.
Constructed from premium 8Cr14MoV stainless steel, the Ignitor s blade has a modified drop point design with a high hollow grind, and it this version (model 6850) comes with a razor-sharp straight edge.
The frame uses CRKT s rigid InterFrame build with stainless steel liners (one locking) and layered G10 scales that are textured and CNC machined to aid grip. The deep finger choil and pommel fit the hand nicely, while the flat cross-section makes for comfortable in-pocket carry.
Outburst Assisted Opening
CRKT s patented OutBurst assisted opening mechanism springs the blade open once the thumb stud has been nudged outward approximately 20-30 degrees, giving you fast one-handed opening while ensuring that the blade will not accidentally open.
A long torsion bar engages a cam on the internal portion of the blade. The cam is ground so that when the blade is closed, the spring provides bias to keep it closed. When the blade is nudged open past 20-30 degrees, the spring leverage changes to propel the blade fully open.
Fire Safe Actuation
When closed, the blade is safely locked by the Fire Safe pin. It cannot be opened until the safety button on the end of the thumb stud is firmly depressed and the thumb stud is nudged outward. Then the OutBurst assist takes over and instantly opens the blade for use.
