The Pitsco 30718 EQs Tremor Table is a programmable shaking table that simulates the impact of an earthquake on model towers, roads, and other structures for students in grades 6-12 studying earthquakes, quake resistance, and structural forces. The Tremor Table can record up to eight minutes of a shake sequence for repetitive testing or use in a structure-building contest. It has a control box with LED output that reports a simulated earthquake s seismic wave in cycles per second from zero to 30, which is similar to the range of an earthquake s P waves, also known as pressure waves or compressional waves. The Tremor Table tests student-built roads and structures, and it can demonstrate soil liquefaction and resonant frequency. Student-built towers designed with either the integrated EQs wood floor plate system or the steel load plate system can be tested on the Tremor Table for earthquake resistance (tower kits and 52785 Steel Load Plates sold separately). It is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for durability in the classroom. HDPE has good chemical resistance, electrical insulation, is easily fabricated, and does not absorb moisture. The Tremor Table comes with a handbook, Earthquake Engineering: EQs Project Book, for an introduction to earthquake engineering. It also includes instructions, eight block base anchors, eight washers, five EQs wood floor plates, five bolts, five nuts, and 50 washers for building a tower with the integrated EQs floor plate system. A shaking table is typically used in an educational setting to demonstrate the impact of an earthquake on structures.
